Polls and surveys are powerful tools for making informed decisions, gathering feedback, and streamlining team communication. Whether you’re seeking quick responses or more detailed feedback, Geekbot is the perfect way to gather valuable insights with minimal effort.

You can create a Geekbot poll or survey in a few simple steps.

Step-by-step creation of polls and surveys

Creating Geekbot polls and surveys is simple. Follow the steps below, and you'll have feedback at your fingertips in no time at all.

Head to your Geekbot Dashboard

  • Click Polls & Surveys in the sidebar of your Geekbot dashboard.

  • This section shows all your active, paused, and completed polls and surveys, including an overview of participation metrics.

Click "Create New"

  • Click Create New in the top-right corner to begin setting up your poll or survey.

Choose a Template or Build Your Own

  • Pick from one of two options:

    • Templates: Use a pre-made template for common use cases (like Decide on date/time or Yes/No);

    • Build Your Own: Create a fully customized poll or survey from scratch.

💡Tip: Be sure to give your poll or survey a descriptive, unique name to help you identify it later (this name will appear in your dashboard for easy reference).

Adjust Your Questions

If you need to adjust the questions, head to the Questions tab, where you can:

  • Add a Question: Enter your question in the input field.

  • Select Answer Type: Use the dropdown to choose from the following options:

    • Set Your Own Options: Customize responses (e.g., Monday/Wednesday/Friday).

    • Yes/No: A straightforward binary choice.

    • Agree/Disagree: Useful for gauging consensus.

    • 1-5 Scale: Collect ratings or levels of satisfaction.

    • 0-10 Scale NPS: Best suited customer satisfaction campaigns.

    • Emoji Ranking: A visually engaging option to let participants rank their response using a scale of five emojis.

  • Additional Settings:

    • Allow users to add their own options (if applicable).

    • Add Limit votes to one option (to restrict multiple responses).

If you need to add more questions, click + Add Question and turn your poll into a survey!

Add Participants

  • Click the Audience tab.

  • Add a welcome Message: Add a custom introduction or if you decide to leave it blank, Geekbot will share the following default message, "Please take a few minutes to answer this poll/survey. 🗳️ Your participation is appreciated!"

  • Select Participants:

    • For individual users: Search and select participants manually, they will receive a direct message from Geekbot asking them to vote;

    • For channels: Select the channel in which you wish your poll or survey to appear and all members will be able to vote directly from there.

Schedule Your Poll or Survey

  • Click the Schedule tab.

  • Configure when and how often the poll or survey will be sent:

    • Trigger Options:

      • On Publish: Send the poll or survey immediately after publishing.

      • On Schedule: Set a specific time for the poll or survey to launch.

    • Recurrence: Determine how often the poll or survey should repeat:

      • One Time: A single instance.

      • Weekly/Monthly: Choose predefined intervals (e.g., every Monday or the last Monday of the month).

      • Custom: Define your own recurrence rules.

    • Duration: Specify how long participants will have to respond:

      • Choose a time frame you want the poll or survey to run (minutes, hours, days, weeks).

Configure Results Settings

  • Click Results.

  • Set Results Visibility to choose when participants can see the results:

    • In Real Time: Results are displayed immediately.

    • After the User Votes: Participants see results only after submitting their response.

    • After the Poll Closes: Results are hidden until voting ends.

    • Only Visible in the Dashboard (Confidential): Results are presented explicitly in the dashboard and only to the creator of the poll or survey.

  • Anonymize Results: Enable anonymity to ensure responses remain unbiased.

Review & Publish

On the right-hand side of the interface, a settings review panel displays the poll or survey's name, questions, audience, schedule, and result settings.

Double-check everything for accuracy, and when you’re ready, hit Publish

💡Tips for Using Polls and Surveys Effectively
