A Confidential 1-1 offers a private space for sensitive conversations with your team. Unlike regular standups, they run as Slack direct message between the admin and the participant, ensuring no one else can see the conversation.
Reports only appear in the same private chat β or admins can access reports in their secure Geekbot dashboard. The design enables managers to run multiple 1-1s in the same place, all while ensuring absolute confidentiality throughout.
How to add this template
It's a simple 3-step process:
1. Select 'Confidential 1-1' from the templates page
2. Add the teammates you want to include in your 1-1 using the Participants block
3. Confirm if you want to share reports with each participant (admins can view responses in their Geekbot dashboard)
β¨ Auto-save drafts
As you configure your standup, Geekbot periodically saves your changes. You'll see an indicator displaying the most recent save timestamp, so you'll know exactly when your changes were secured.
This way, you can take your time perfecting the standup without worrying about losing any adjustments and avoiding sending notifications to your team.
π Publish
When everything looks good, publish your standup. Doing so will alert your team members to the new standup and let them know the timing of their first prompt.
Best Practices
Establish a follow-up plan: If actionable insights arise from your check-in, create a plan to address them. Acknowledging feedback and taking appropriate action strengthens trust and engagement.
Keep questions minimal and meaningful: Use a small number of well-crafted, open-ended questions to encourage engagement and honest responses. Too many questions can feel overwhelming and reduce participation.
Respect boundaries and privacy: Avoid making participation feel mandatory and let participants know they can skip questions if they're uncomfy sharing certain details.
