Welcome to the geekier side of Slack and MS Teams! Learn how to use commands to streamline your workflows with your trusty sidekick, Geekbot ๐Ÿค–

In Slack:

Time to report

If you want to report right away, type report directly to Geekbot. If youโ€™re not ready to report, or you need to skip the workflow entirely, type cancel.

Geekbot will scrap your latest update, then wait for you to re-type report to resume the process (just beware: cancel will stop all current communications with Geekbot assuming there's no active report).

If a question comes up and you have nothing to say, type nothing, none , nope or (-), a handy tip to reduce the noise as you read reports.

Out-of-office

Let Geekbot know not to ping you by typing out of office or ooo. Now mention how long you want to stay out of the reporting loop, and you're done.

Engagement status

There are a couple of engagement commands to choose from, so pick the one that works for you:

  • For a weekly engagement update of your teamโ€™s reporting status, type engagement;

  • For a daily engagement update, type engagement today.

...then watch Geekbot work its magic ๐Ÿ’ซ

Each engagement command includes all the stand-ups and surveys your team reports on, so you'll get a complete overview โ€” or if you want to look at one specific workflow, just add the name.

Say you want to check a workflow called 'Daily': type engagement Daily for a weekly update or engagement today Daily for a daily update.

Dashboard access

To access your dashboard, just type dashboard or login, and voila! Geekbot will send you a link right away.

Request help

If your memory's playing up and a command slips your mind, ask Geekbot for help, and it'll share a list of all the commands it knows ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ
