At Geekbot, we believe in transparent, fair billing. You only ever pay for users who actively engage with the bot. This guide explains how Geekbot billing works, covering how we apply charges to standups, polls and surveys, and how we handle changes in participant activity.

First up: who do you pay for?

Geekbot only ever charges for active participants. What's an active participant? Either:

  • A user who submits a standup update or responds to polls and surveys; or,

  • An admin who manages a standup or accesses reports in the Geekbot dashboard.

Geekbot then charges per participant per month—regardless of how many standups, polls and surveys they take part in.

How much does a participant cost?

You pay a different amount depending on whether participants use standups — or polls and surveys.

Here's the pricing for each:

  • Standups Pricing: $3 per participant per month (or $2.5 per participant per month if billed annually).

  • Polls & Surveys: $1 per respondent per month (or $0.75 per respondent per month if billed annually).

Geekbot also charges on a pro-rated basis, so if a user joins 10 days into a 30-day cycle, you only pay for the remaining 20 days of that cycle. And if a user stops participating in standups or surveys, you will no longer be billed for that user.

Geekbot will also credit your account with any unused subscription fees.

How do annual charges work?

If you pay annually, you get a discount (as outlined in the previous section). Additional participants use existing credits — and if your credits run out, charges will apply based on the new participant count.
